Lab Move Timetable – November 2019
As a mover specializing in laboratory moves, you pick up on things fairly quickly. As a start-up prepares to ask for funding, it moves from its university lab to an incubator space. Such was the case for Gro BioSciences. In November 2019, the lab moved from Harvard University’s lab at H.I. Lab in the Allston section of Boston to Lab Central, an incubator space in Kendall Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Gro Bioscience’s relocation required moving frozen samples from the Allston lab to its new space in Cambridge. The packing and move were done over the course of one day. To ensure the consistent temperature of the samples, we used special low temperature coolers and dry ice pellets. The combination of the pellets and the coolers sustained the required cold temperatures for the minus 80 samples.
Additionally, the equipment required customized, heavy duty boxes and crating. BTI built these containers using a higher grade material.
BTI crated, loaded and moved the lab on November 26. The move and unpacking included assembly of metro shelving and placement of bench equipment on the lab bench surface.
Overall, the move went off without a hitch at both point of origin and destination. The lab manager, Dr. Chris Gregg, had this to say about working with BTI:
“I really appreciate the services provided including the low temp lab coolers, the coordination and pick up of the dry ice pellets, foam coolers and the complete service needed for our move. I know that it was a small lab, but you treated us as if we were a large lab.”
