Lab Move Timetable – March 2025
That’s not mover’s lingo. It’s short for Nest.Bio Labs, a lab incubator space located at 325 Vassar Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In March 2025, Labmovers.com moved four existing tenants to Nest.Bio Labs’ next-generation facility, Hatch.Bio Labs at 100 Chestnut Street in Somerville, MA.
Lab moves challenges
Nest.Bio, as the host lab for the incubator, had an expiring lease at 325 Vassar Street in Cambridge, MA. Labmovers.com would have to execute and complete four individual lab moves to clear the space before the end of the lease. Labs being relocated included:
- Hatch.Bio Labs, the next generation of Nest.Bio
- Innovac Therapeutic
- Fount Bio
- IT Bio, LLC
All four labs required a plug-in transport to preserve specimens being moved from Nest.Bio Labs to Hatch.Bio Labs. Labmovers.com employed freezers at the follow settings: -80° C, -20° C, 4° C, -140° C and -150° C (liquid nitrogen vapor storage).
Additionally, Labmovers.com provided the following services:
- Expertly packing and transporting hazardous chemicals following all USDOT requirements
- Removal and transport of common benches and shared equipment
- Installation of lab equipment at the new facility in Somerville
- Clean-up of Nest.Bio Labs in Cambridge. The space had to be 100 percent empty.
- Relocation of all office equipment—desks, chairs, electronics, etc.
- Decommissioning and recycling lab equipment that had come to the end of its life.
- Decontamination services
Lab moves execution
Starting February 4, Labmovers.com began the relocation of the labs at Nest.Bio. The last lab to be moved was Hatch.Bio Labs on March 28.
On March 31, Labmovers.com dispersed our Resettlement Crew to 100 Chestnut, Somerville, MA. The Resettlement Crew visited each lab to inquire on how things were working with the equipment and where items had initially been moved. The Crew made slight adjustments at the request of the labs.
From Hatch.Bio Labs
“My favorite part about working with Labmovers.com was their adaptability. Throughout any sort of complex lab move like this there will be some hiccups, some challenges and things change on the fly. The entire Labmovers.com team–from the move coordinators to the leadership team to the laborers who executed the move–all stayed extremely positive. They were always focused on finding a path forward as opposed to dwelling on challenges that popped up. Even when it meant it was going to extend their day a bit or maybe make their life a little bit harder. They were very positive and pleasant with our team as things were changing on the fly. Bottom line: we got the move done on time and, overall, things really went quite smoothly.”
